Get outdoors for the first day of open trails at Shepard Farm!
You and your family are invited for one-mile hikes guided by naturalists and volunteers. You’ll explore the big woods and encounter wildlife on the trails of this historic 1920s-era farm. These hikes are free and open to the public! No experience necessary—people of all ages and activity levels welcome.
Hikes begin on the hour, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Meet at the pavilion to the west of the parking lot. Trails are wood-chipped and cross level terrain. Particularly in early spring, trails may be wet, muddy, icy or snowy! Please dress for the conditions.
Participate in the BioBlitz
On their hikes, you can help Dodge staff and scientists learn about species that thrive at Shepard Farm. Together, let’s do a BioBlitz to find and identify as many animals, plants and fungi as we can. They’ll use a smartphone app called iNaturalist to collect photos and identifications. Scientists can use the data to assess biodiversity and health of ecosystems. The companion app, SEEK, is a family-friendly option too.
Spanish-language hike at 1 p.m.
