Sensory Friendly Sunday is a monthly event designed for kids, teens, and adults with sensory processing differences, autism spectrum disorder, or developmental disabilities. The galleries will be closed to the general public, allowing visitors to enjoy the museum in a calm environment with accommodations such as quiet spaces, fidgets, and sunglasses available. Experience current Walker exhibitions Five Ways In and Julie Mehretu and grab an art kit to make art at home!
Timed tickets are now required for all visitors. For Sensory Friendly Sundays, you will have the option of 8 am, 9 am, or 10 am time slots. Please arrive during the hour you selected. Once inside the museum, you can stay as long as you want.
Limited walk-up tickets are available in-person at the front desk if the time slot you are interested in is full.
To ensure safety for visitors and Walker staff, they have made some changes to the Sensory Friendly Sunday program and their visitation guidelines.
Though masks are encouraged but no longer required during general gallery hours, they will continue to require that masks be worn at Sensory Friendly Sunday by visitors over the age of 2 because some community members cannot receive the COVID-19 vaccine. With that in mind, please wear a mask at Sensory Friendly Sunday in support of those in our community who cannot be vaccinated and/or have a weakened immune system. They will not be hosting film screenings or art-making projects at Sensory Friendly Sunday at this time.
