Free First Saturday: Care to Share
May 7 @ 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM CDTFree
What makes you feel cared for? How do you support others in your life? We all need help sometimes, and we can all give it, too! Let’s think about and celebrate ways we care for ourselves, each other, and our communities through interactive art-making projects and activities designed for the whole family. Or grab an art kit to get creative at home!
Free First Saturday also features free gallery admission on the first Saturday of every month. Gallery admission tickets are available on-site on the event day from the Main Lobby desk; quantities are limited.
On Free First Saturdays, they require visitors over age 2 to wear face masks inside the building to support the safety and comfort of families and attendees. They ask that you continue to maintain a minimum distance of 6 feet away from people not in your household group.
Get creative making pop-up cards inspired by or for someone important in your life! Each kit will contain instructions and all the materials you need to create your own card. For ages 5 and up, young children will need some help from an adult. Quantities are limited, available in English and Spanish.
Art kits will be available for pickup in the Walker’s Main Lobby. Entry to the galleries is not required to pick up an art kit.
Short Film Screening Information:
Stop by the Bentson Mediatheque to watch a short film! The film will loop throughout the day 10 am–3 pm. Capacity is limited to 10 people at a time. This is a relaxed screening appropriate for all ages.

Cores: Colors, Objects, Wearables
Join artist and educator Alonzo Pantoja to create a colorful object or wearable using the meditative process of coiling. Will you create a token to keep, carry, share, or wear?
The artist David Hockney often creates art inspired by loved ones, locations, and objects that are personally important to him. Explore some of his works in the exhibition David Hockney: People, Places & Things, then create a sketch inspired by something that’s special to you!
Attention book lovers! Did you know the Walker is also home to a library? Explore an assortment of books from the collection and meet a Walker librarian at this special library pop-up.
