Free First Saturday at Home: Family Pride

Kick off Pride Month with an online celebration of families at Free First Saturday at Home! Drag Story Hour will be there to get the party started with a performance, story hour, and dance party. Join them to celebrate what makes your family special.

Free First Saturday at Home features free performances, games, art-making, and kids’ films on the first Saturday of every month. Most activities will remain on the website after June 6 so you can return to continue making art with your family!

Visit the Free First Saturday at Home page to check out videos and download instructions for art-making activities from May and fill out the survey at the bottom of the page to let them know what you’d like to do in future months!

To participate in this online event, you will need internet access; a computer, tablet, or smartphone; and some limited art-making materials:

Cardboard (thick or corrugated will work best)
Black marker or paint
Paint or ink pads in multiple colors
Paper bag
String (approximately 2 ft minimum)
White Fabric (optional)
Apron (optional)

Dance with Doña Pepa, hear a story from Old Man Zimmer, and satisfy your sweet tooth with DJ Sid Sity. All you need is space to move, a few simple kitchen ingredients, and your imagination! Approximately 20 minutes.

Create: Printing with Pride
For ages 3 and up, younger kids may need some help from an adult; instructions available all day

Create your own prints or Pride flags using handmade stamps inspired by the art of Jasper Johns in this experiment with mark-making and color.
