Dia de los Muertos at Midtown Global Market

Celebrate Dia de los Muertos—the Day of the Dead at Midtown Global Market.
Day of the Dead (el Día de los Muertos), is a Mexican holiday where families welcome back the souls of their deceased relatives for a brief reunion that includes food, drink and celebration. A blend of Mesoamerican ritual, European religion and Spanish culture,
• One of the centerpieces of this event will be an authentic Ofrenda (altar) created from objects that remind us of loved ones who have passed on.
• Local artist, Monica Vega, will host a craft station to teach kids how to create one of the most recognized symbols of the holiday, sugar skulls.
• Traditional Dia de los Muertos food specials including $2 tamales at Salsa ala Salsa and $5 hot chocolate and Pan de Muerto (Day of the Dead Bread) at Manny’s Tortas. Arepa Bar will be offering $6 churros, and specials at many other Market restaurants. Sanchez Jewelry will be offering 10% off all sterling silver jewelry.
• Musician Robert Everest will be playing music from 12 pm- 2 pm.
• Musician Adrian Paz will be on stage from 2 pm- 5 pm.
• Presentation by Mexican Consul Iván Roberto Sierra Medal to the Mexican Business Community in Minnesota at Midtown Global Market.
• Presentation by Minnesota’s own artist and designer Luis Fitch. Mr. Fitch will be unveiling his United States Postal Stamp commemorating el Día de los Muertos to Minnesota.
This is a free and family friendly event. Ramp parking is available at 10th Ave and Lake St.
